The following are frequently asked questions of the Environmental Health Section.
A) Contact a licensed septic installer, the installer will conduct the percolation
test and contact the sanitarian to evaluate the soil. Once the test is done you
can fill out the application for a permit to install a septic system.
B) Don’t recommend anyone, the list of installers is found on our website.
C) Permit fee is $252 for new permit, $222 for a repair.
A) We can test for bacteria in the well, we don’t offer any other testing.
B) Cost is $75 for the sample fee and $23 for the lab fee. The $75 fee would need
to be collected the day of the sample.
C) Takes about 2 weeks to get the sample results back
D) Sample will need to be collected by the sanitarian Monday- Wednesday only.

investigate after we receive it.
B) Or stop in complete a written complaint form.
A) Direct them to WV legal aid. The health dept doesn’t get involved
between landlord and tenant issues. It is purely a civil matter.
